Reservation Assistant - Technical Requirements
The following technical specifications should serve as a high level principle for evaluation your existing hardware and software or when purchasing new equipment. The Reservation Assistant software suite will function on hardware with the minimum requirements stated below; however, it is strongly advised to use the recommended specifications as a guidline. Use them to compare it with the hardware of your choice. Please contact TAC in case you require more detailed information.

SERVER
The database software Sybase Anywhere is included in the Reservation Assistant product. We recommend using a dedicated computer (server or workstation hardware) for running the server programs (database, application server, interfaces, license server). However, Reservation Assistant Server can share a machine with other systems if necessary.

Network Infrastructure
Use of structured and certified cabling according to Cat5e standard or higher. Switches in backbone and server-uplink.
TAC/IP ports available for client-server communication within the network. The default TCP ports are, 2638 (Database), 49152 (Training Database), 41099 (License Server), 4899 (Remote Administration), and two ports per interface connection (e.g. PMS). This ports can be changed but are fixed during operation.
Online transaction interfaces like credit card or gift certificate processing or other web services may require Internet access from the Reservation Assistant server.
System Administration - Installation, Maintenance & Support
The quality of support and software service correlates with the quality of the network connection to the server. TAC mimimizes the need for local tasks by remote administration. TAC makes database adjustments online and distributes software updates to the server and to all clients automatically. Therefore a connection from the Internet to the Reservation Assistant server is required.
The prefered tool for remote administration is RAdmin (www.radmin.com; server license supplied by TAC) used via Internet. Dial-up connections are not supported.
Alternative remote administration tools my be used only after approval by TAC. Any additional expenses resulting from such methods are reimbursable.
Remote administration must be available from the first day of installation. It may be required to set up a port forwarding for TCP port 4899 from the public IP address (router/firewall) to the Reservation Assistant server.
